Ms. Strickholm has been active with All Seasons Chamber Players in Demerest, N.J. since its inception in 1981. She serves as co-director and manager of the group in addition to being one of its lead performers. A skilled musician, Ms. Strickholm plays piano and harpsichord. She has also been diligent in fundraising for the group, which has done more than 761 concerts to date. Ms. Strickholm has been passionate about music since studying at the Eastman School of Music and Red Fox Music Camp in the 1950s. An associate of Chamber Music America, she is particularly noted for her talents in chamber music and four-hand music.
In 1998, Ms. Strickholm retired from Englewood Public School District, where she had been an elementary school teacher for 28 years. She previously taught for Tenafly Public Schools and Great Neck Public Schools. Ms. Strickholm holds a Master of Science in education from Queens College and a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Rochester. She became a certified teacher through the New York Department of Education in 1955, and later became certified in elementary education K-12 and a certified teacher of social studies K-12 by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Aside from her accomplishments in music and education, Ms. Strickholm was heavily involved in the civil rights movement in Bergen County from 1961 to 1970. She received an award in recognition of her efforts from the Bergen County Fair Housing Council. Since 1969, Ms. Strickholm has served as chairman of the Bergen County Equal Opportunities Study Committee in Hackensack, N.J. All of her accomplishments were considered when she was chosen to be featured in the 61st through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 25th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and the 27th and 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
Along with her husband, Harry, Ms. Strickholm has raised four children: Karen, Sally, Douglas and Glenn. She has six grandchildren: Kevin, Kimberly, Karl, Dylan, Zachary and Ashley. Ms. Strickholm enjoys swimming, gardening and reading in her spare time.
