Professor Wronski is Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University (JCU). Professor Wronski first joined JCU in 1993 as the founding Head of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and in 1997 assumed the role of Executive Dean in the then Faculty of Health, Life and Molecular Sciences. Over the two decades he has worked at JCU, Professor Wronski has led the development of the medical and health sector with a focus on rural, Indigenous and tropical populations, the founding of the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine and moves to establish the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre.
Prior to joining James Cook University, Professor Wronski was the first Director of Health Services of the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Council, Medical Director of the Broom Regional Aboriginal Medical Service and a practicing procedural clinician in the Kimberley region. His career began with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Monash University, after which Professor Wronski undertook further study with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, earning a Diploma of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene. He then completed a Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Epidemiology from Harvard University.

These include health workforce development in public and Indigenous health, rural and regional development, and education. Professor Wronski currently chairs the Australian Council of Deans of Health Sciences, is a board member of the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority - Teaching, Training and Research Committee, the Townsville Health and Hospital Board and Executive Committee, the Health Professions Education Standing Group of Universities Australia and has chaired the Queensland Clinical Education and Training Council. Professor Wronski's policy activity also extends internationally, through AITHM and as a board member of the APEC-Life Sciences Innovation Forum (LSIF). He is focussed on providing intellectual leadership in health systems and workforce development and innovation to meet the growing and changing demands on healthcare both in Australia and abroad.
In light of his accomplishments, Professor Wronski was recently appointed to the Order of Australia for 'distinguished service to tertiary education, particularly through leadership and research roles in Indigenous, rural and remote health, and to medicine in the field of tropical health'. Professor Wronski has also been featured in several editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World. He was also selected to appear in the 32nd through 34th editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business.
