Dr. MacLeod is a fellow of the Chapter of Palliative Care of the Royal Australasian College Physicians, whose education committee he was formerly a member of from 2004 to 2008. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a past member of the New Zealand Ministry of Health's Palliative Care Advisory Group. In addition to being appointed as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, he was honored with the Inaugural Lloyd Morgan Charitable Trust fellowship and inclusion in Who's Who in Medicine in Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
