In the coming years, Dr. Edwards intends to experience the continued growth and success of her private practice.
SILVER CITY, NM, January 20, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Diana S. Edwards has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With a background as a mental health counselor and social sciences educator, Dr. Edwards is uniquely qualified to oversee a wide range of tasks on behalf of her private practice, which she opened in 2009. She started in a professional capacity in the 1970s developing a program in creative photography for the community college in Edmonton, Alberta, where she taught journalism in addition to photography, and maintained a career as a freelance photographer, writer, and editor. In 1980, Edwards (then Palting) accepted a position as Senior Editor for the new Canadian Encyclopedia, which she maintained for three years. After returning to the U.S., Edwards began teaching at Flagler College in St. Augustine, and then as adjunct instructor at the University of North Florida (UNF) in order to expand her skills. Edwards earned a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Florida in 1995. That degree propelled Dr. Edwards to the next 15 years of her impressive career, which was spent in academia as Visiting Assistant Professor at UNF and, after moving to New Mexico in 1999, adjunct professor at Western New Mexico University (WNMU) where she earned a Master of Arts in Counseling in 2004. When serving as family counselor at Life Quest Early Intervention and the WNMU Child Development Center, Edwards increased her understanding of the importance of social-emotional development in the first months of life and earned endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Specialist, III. As a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in private practice since 2009, Dr. Edwards continues to support families and young children and keep up with developments in her field.
To stay connected to her field, Dr. Edwards affiliates herself with the Society of Applied Anthropology, where she is a fellow, and the American Counseling Association, where she serves as a member. Throughout her long-standing career, she has contributed her knowledge to many articles in professional journals and has been included in Who's Who in America, in their 65th through 70th editions. During her spare time, she enjoys giving back through the American Adoption Congress, where she was a member from 1978 until 2010, and the New Mexico Association for Infant Mental Health, where she has served on the board of directors since 2010. In the coming years, Dr. Edwards intends to experience the continued growth and success of her private practice.
