In a career that has spanned more than thirty years, Mr. Yeo has met with success by utilizing his hard work ethic, dedication, and ability to identify talent and nurture professionals. He began his tenure as a military air traffic controller serving his national service, where he excelled for six years and concluded his reservist service holding the rank of Captain. With top skills in management, Mr. Yeo has worked in all three sectors of the air, sea and land industries during which time he developed a unique skill set with varying management perspectives. In 2009, Mr. Yeo merged his areas of expertise and joined the team at the Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA), a not-for-profit association that facilitates the transfer of skills and technology of human capital capabilities to enhance the growth of individual human capital development practitioners, corporations and international networks. As the executive director and chief executive officer, he spent the first five years driving change by developing a four-phases roadmap to better assist individuals in their lifelong learning journey for application at the workplace. Today, he advocates for human capital as a return of investment based on the philosophy of building a professional community centered on life-long learning journey instead of focusing on serving as the only core value. Moving forward, to grow the global learning community, Mr. Yeo is driving as chairman of Learning and Development (LAD) Global Pte Ltd to build a scalable technology L&D platform for the global community. The platform uses big data, discovery and gamification techniques to shorten the process of shortlisting learning contents, automating matchmaking between learning providers and the learners themselves. The vision of the platform is to be a place for everyone to learn, connect, market and have their learning & development ideas incubated effectively by tapping on meaningful data, building dynamic portfolio and participating in a robust virtual platform.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Yeo earned a Strategic Leadership Award during the Global HR Excellence Awards Conference in Mumbai, India Contribution to HR Community Award by Asia HRD Awards and an Achievers and Leaders Award for Excellence in Talent Management, among other prominent distinctions. To extend his impact on his industry, Mr. Yeo is a global chair member of the Learning and Innovations Laboratory (LILA) at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is also serving as human resource committee member in the Singapore Christian Home for the Aged, and member of the nominations committee of the Securities Investors Association of Singapore. As he looks to the future, Mr. Yeo intends to continue his work as thought leader and expert in his field while taking on new opportunities as they arise.
