Dr. Kong's career beginnings saw her in the product-planning department for Esquire. Subsequently, she served for more than a decade in fashion design in Korea and Italy, and in academia for nearly a 15 years, with such institutions as Silla University, Sookmyung Women's University, and Dongmyong University.
An alumna of Hongik University, Universita per Stranieri, Instituto Marangoni, and Sookmyung Women's University, Dr. Kong holds a diploma, a master's degree in fashion design, and a Ph.D. in clothing and textiles. Years after obtaining her Ph.D., she was awarded an Internet license for the purpose of patenting her fashion and IT applications. In recent years, she patented technologies for a quantitative evaluation network-based system for extracting image concept information, and various methods of creating preference image identification codes. Notably, Dr. Kong has won many awards for her work in the field. She was personally selected to work on projects for the Korean Small Business Administration, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy. Throughout her career, she has parlayed her knowledge into a number of published works, including two solo exhibitions featuring wearable art, and two books: "Fashion Illustration Drawing Tecnics" and "Fashion Illustration Coloring Tecnics," both of which were published in 2002.
