SAINT MICHAELS, MD, June 14, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name George Hoover Aldrich a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Aldrich celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For 58 years, Mr. George Hoover Aldrich has served the United States with distinction on the international legal stage, working as a judge, ambassador, and arbitrator in numerous global events. He is noted for working with then secretary of state Henry Kissinger in negotiating the peace agreement with North Vietnam, drafting protocols for the Geneva Convention, and representing the U.S. at the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference from 1977 to 1981. Mr. Aldrich has documented his experience as an international legal figure in the books "The Protocols to the Vietnam Peace Agreement" and "The Jurisprudence of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal."

Mr. Aldrich was born in Saint Louis in 1932 to Emmett Porter and Hettie Barbara Hoover Aldrich. He began his studies at DePauw University to earn a Bachelor of Arts before matriculating at Harvard Law School, where he received an LLB in 1957 and an LLM in 1958. He passed the bar in Indiana and briefly served as an attorney for the Navy Department in Washington before devoting three years to the Department of Defense.

After navigating such delicate legal territory, Mr. Aldrich was appointed ambassador and deputy special representative to the president before becoming a judge at the 1981 Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal. The sensational negotiations involved the detention of 52 U.S. nationals, which resulted in the U.S. freeze of all Iranian assets. From 2001 to 2009, Mr. Aldrich was appointed commissioner of the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission at The Hague, in the Netherlands. He is a frequent contributor to professional journals and served on the board of editors for the American Journal of International Law. He was a professor of law at Leiden University for six years. While in The Hague he served as president of the executive committee of the American School of The Hague.

Mr. Aldrich has appeared at his alma mater, DePauw University, which presented him with an honorary LLD degree in 2006. He has also served with the Council on Foreign Relations, the American Society of International Law, and the Institute of Humanitarian Law. He was named 1980 Distinguished Senior Executive by President Jimmy Carter. For legal services to the United States of America, Mr. Aldrich was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, as well as the 2002 to 2003 volume of Who's Who in Finance and Industry and two volumes of Who's Who in American Law in 2000 and 2005. Mr. Aldrich enjoys spending time in Saint Croix, and being with his family. He was married in 1959 to Rosemary M. Aldrich (nee Balmforth).
