Backed by 40 years of experience in health program administration, Ms. Timpa retired as an assistant chief of nursing with the VA North Texas Health Care Systems. Earlier in her career, she lent her expertise to a number of hospitals, including the Harris County Hospital District, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Mesquite Hospital. In the years that followed, she transferred to Baylor University Medical Center as a nurse. Following that opportunity, she worked in various health care administrative roles for the Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.
A graduate of the University of Texas and Texas Women's University, Ms. Timpa holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in nursing, education administration, and research. She earned her APN in 1993. In order to remain active and engaged among her professional circles, she affiliates herself with Sigma Theta Tau, through which she has been recognized for her merits on numerous occasions. A contributor to numerous grants, she has been awarded for her accomplishments throughout the entirety of her career. She has assisted Congress and Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama with the introduction and passage of important new healthcare legislation.
In addition to being named Most Valuable Person through VA Research, Ms. Timpa has earned a Customer Service Award from VA North Texas Healthcare Systems, as well as a Plank Award through the National Center for Health Promotion. Since 2006, Ms. Timpa has also been featured in many volumes of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
