A graduate of the University of Virginia and Princeton University, Dr. Nolan holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science, and an MD. In order to remain active and engaged in his professional circles, he affiliates himself with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, the Association for Clinical Cardiac Surgeons, the International Association of Cardiac Biological Implants, the Society for Vascular Surgery, and a plethora of others. Throughout his career, he has contributed his extensive knowledge to such publications as the Journal of Surgical Research and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
Notably, Dr. Nolan has been recognized many times for his work in the field. In addition to earning the John Horsley Memorial prize through the University of Virginia Medical School and the Merit Award through the Research Forum of the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Nolan has been featured in two volumes of Who's Who in American Education, six volumes of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, 11 volumes of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and 17 volumes of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
