In addition to his status as Lifetime Achiever, Lt. General (Retired) Robert Douglas Chelberg received the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Legion of Merit. Additionally, he received the Bronze Star with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, 10 Air Medals, and the Meritorious Service Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster. He also received the Veteran of the Year Award from VFW Post 3676, the Outstanding Alumnus Award from Lake Superior State University, the Army Exceptional Civilian Service Award, and the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. He has been inducted into the New Mexico State University College of Business Hall of Fame. General Chelberg has been a featured listee in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
He is a 1961 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
