Mr. Corbin served as a correspondent photographer with the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967 during the middle of the Vietnam War, and worked as an editor for the U.S. Support Command newspaper "Sandman." Born in Ripley, West Virginia to Oliver Paige and Catherine Elaine Corbin in 1943, Mr. Corbin originally studied speech at Potomac State College, earning an Associate's degree in 1962. He went on to complete a Bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in 1965, and traveled with the Army to Vietnam in 1966. The events of the Vietnam War still have an impact in America today, especially for many of the soldiers who famously returned with unresolved psychiatric conditions.
Mr. Corbin pursued counseling for veterans and other patients suffering from mental illness, and in 1991 he earned a M.Ed. in counseling from Ohio University to bolster his continuing efforts. Additionally, he has contributed to his community as president of the Neighborhood Watch in Little Hocking, as well as president of the Sugar Lane Improvement Association in Rivesville, West Virginia. Mr. Corbin documented many of his cases and contributed to numerous articles in professional journals.
For decades of dedication to counseling, Mr. Corbin was selected for inclusion in five volumes of Who's Who in the World, seven volumes of Who's Who in America, and the 2004 to 2005 volume of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Mr. Corbin enjoys piano, writing, acting, walking, and playing the harmonica. He became a 1994 Region III fiction winner of Mensa, and married Shirley Mae Francis in 1968. The couple had two children, Max David and Beth Ann, who in turn had two grandchildren. They have inherited Mr. Corbin's gift for music. Kyra Griffin was selected for her violin playing at the Tucson in Colorado, and Amber now plays the piano.
