CARMEL, CA, August 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Marla Holbrook Robinson a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Robinson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Robinson has dedicated 56 years of her life to her chosen profession as a registered nurse in Northern California. She is approaching her 60th anniversary with the Order of the Eastern Star in Monterey, one of the largest fraternal organizations in the world. Ms. Robinson has opened two successful home health care agencies in her career, and her shining achievement was the sale of the private insurance healthcare service in 2008.
Born in Grass Valley, California, to Hilmer Harrison and Mable Lucille Holbrook, Ms. Robinson wanted to be a nurse since she was small. She was inspired by the nurses who cared for her mother, who received brain surgery when Ms. Robinson was three years old. Ms. Holbrook was in the hospital for three months before returning home, under the watchful eyes of the nursing staff. Ms. Robinson followed in those nurses' footsteps by attending the University of California, Chico, and earning a BSN and PHN in 1956. She was certified to teach required health programs in California to kindergarten through eighth grade, and received a special public health certification.
Ms. Robinson was first posted to the University of California San Francisco Hospital, and in 1959, she joined St. Luke's Hospital nearby as a clinic supervisor. Her leadership skills and school certification were put to good use from 1960 to 1962 as a school and public health nurse with San Francisco City and County. In 1961, Ms. Robinson married Donald Wilson Robinson Jr., and had two children, Jeffrey Brian and Jennifer Lee Villa. She returned to nursing in 1969 as a school nurse for the All Saints School in Carmel. Ms. Robinson served in this position for 10 years, and in 1994, she founded Care and Choice Home Health Care, where she served as a community care nurse. She has also served as a long term director of Nursing Salinas in California.
In her civic sphere, Ms. Robinson has been a member of Carmel Foundation since 2003, which provides a community space for seniors in an environment of respect and camaraderie. She has supported the American Association of University Women, the Quata International Monterey Peninsula, and Jacettes. Ms. Robinson was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women, two volumes of Who's Who in the World, and the 2002 to 2003 volume of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. She enjoys growing orchids, doing crafts, reading, and travel.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Robinson has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
