With nearly 30 years of industry experience to his name, Dr. Villessot is the president of DV Consulting, where he conducts research in the fields of water treatment and the environment around the world. He is currently working on a method of sea water desalination powered by solar energy. As a consultant, Dr. Villessot offers services for many diverse structures, notably on potable and waste water, urban and industrial water usage, and for urban networks. DV Consulting provides general organization with new approaches to research, and is working with smart technologies as well as French-American startup companies on various aspects of potable water.
Dr. Villessot earned a doctorate with the Universite de Limoges in 1977, and transitioned from professor to environmental concerns as the field demanded action. Notably, he joined UNICEF and OMS on missions to Nigeria, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, before becoming an expert for the French Government and the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Cooperation. Traveling the world, he helped to found the Fondation de l'Eau and served as its director through the '80s, working with the best professionals in the field of producing potable water in far-flung places. He later served as a director for a number of research groups with the Lyonnaise des Eaux organization. He founded DV Consulting in 2014, and since November of that year has served as director and scientific advisor for the water utility arm of SUEZ Eau France. Since February of 2017, he has been president of the supervisory board for MASCARA NT, and a member of its solar energy water desalination project, DEMOS.
In addition to his official roles, Dr. Villessot is still or has been a leader with a number of scientific groups, including ASTEE, COSEI Eau, DREAM, HYDREOS, the Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform, and EUREAU, which represents public and private companies in 27 member states of the European Union and is charged with the assessment of water services for 420 million Europeans. He is a member of many more international and French water societies, was honored in many international conferences, and has contributed to numerous industry publications.
