Influenced by his patients, Dr. Reidenberg has applied his expertise in clinical psychology and suicide prevention to his role as executive director leading the nonprofit organization SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) for more than a decade. SAVE is dedicated to improving public awareness, education, training, counseling, grief support, as well as research and innovation regarding suicide. Dr. Reidenberg has been recognized for his work in receiving the Champion of Change Award from President Barrack Obama in 2011.
An alumnus of the University of Minnesota and Argosy University, Dr. Reidenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Child Psychology, and a Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree. Additionally, he is certified as a psychological autopsy investigator, a board certified professional counselor, a master therapist, a relationship specialist, a crisis debriefer, and an aviation disaster responder. He was one of the lead authors of the 2012 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, helped launch the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, and is on the Steering Committee of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, as well as the Advisory Board of Crisis Text Line and TalkLife.co. He is the former Chair of the American Psychotherapy Association. Notably, he is a former U.S. representative and current executive committee member and general secretary to the International Association for Suicide Prevention. Dr. Reidenberg is a recognized leader in media and entertainment, and is the author of the Best Practices for Media Reporting on Suicide, Blogging and Social Media and Suicide, and contributing author to Best Practices for Reporting on Bullying. He has presented his work and research around the world in Japan, Norway, Rome, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, as well as numerous instances at the White House and the Pentagon. Dr. Reidenberg has been interviewed over 1,000 times by national and international television, print and radio, and has made two appearances on Larry King Now.
Dr. Reidenberg has been recognized many times for his professional and personal endeavors. He is the recipient of a Healthy Mind/Healthy Body Award in 2012 as well as the Non-Profit Professional of the Year in 2010. He was honored with a Best Doctor's Award from 2013 to 2017, and SAVE has been named to the Best Women's, Children's, and Families' Charities for several years. As a psychologist, Dr. Reidenberg has received numerous awards, including a 2004 Outstanding Leadership Award from the American Psychotherapy Association, as well as a 2006 B. Warren Hart Award for Service to Humanity and the honor of being one of the 2006 Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans.
