In 1960, Ms. Schneider was born to Howard Thomas and Ina Elise Schneider on Staten Island, New York. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York Maritime College in 1984. Five years later, she joined Customs and Border Protection in San Diego. In 1989, she joined the U.S. Customs Service, which was merged with the U.S. Immigration Service to form U.S. Customs and Border Protection after 9/11. Ms. Schneider also served with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1984 to 1987, and earned the rank of lieutenant commander. She returned to service from 1991 to 2006. She was also a third mate with the U.S. Merchant Marine. Ms. enjoys pistol shooting in her spare time.
For her services safeguarding the borders of the U.S., Ms. Schneider was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who of American Women, three volumes of Who's Who in America from 2006 to 2009, and the 2006 volume of Who's Who in the World. She collects coins, and also plays golf.
