Dr. Muraoka, a professor and director of the Tokyo Ueno Campus of Daiichi Institute of Technology for the past four years, began his career at the school as a professor in 2011. His major field of interest, which includes applications of intelligent system technology, especially in human-machine interfaces, including reliability and safety engineering in image display devices and systems, as well as electronic engineering and psychophysics has expanded not only in the classroom. In his research, Dr. Muraoka has published more than 160 papers on topics like readability and visibility of character and image displays, and six books, to include "Motor Design and Low-Cost Technology by IoT System" in 2017, "The Humanoid" in 2012, "Psychophysics" in 2005, "Manufacturing Revolution" in 2004, "Color Image Information Processing System" in 2001, and "Monochrome Image Processing System" in 1999.
Entering the field of higher education in 1997 as an associate professor at Polytechnic University, Dr. Muraoka earned the title of professor at Gunma Polytechnic College in 2000, at Polytechnic University of Tokyo in 2002, and at Daiichi Institute of Technology, a private university in Kirishima, Kagoshima, Japan, in 2012. Attending Kindai University in Osaka, Dr. Muraoka received a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Reactor Engineering in 1973. Five years later, in 1978, he completed a Master of Science in Applied Chemical Engineering at Toyo University. In 1991, he had received a PhD in Electronic Engineering at Shizuoka University.
An Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) senior member, Dr. Muraoka is also a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, the Reliability Engineering Association of Japan, and the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers. Receiving a Research and Development Award by the Aikawa Technology Promotion Foundation in 1994, and a Best Paper Award by IEEE (Consumer Electronics Society) in 1995, he has since been named to several editions of Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Married with one son, Dr. Muraoka enjoys spending time in outdoors fishing and hiking.
