Earlier in her career, she worked as a private flute instructor at Fort Collins in Colorado. Over the years, she also worked for Colorado State University as both an instructor of technical journalism and an assistant professor, as well as for the University of Maryland in sociology. Furthermore, Dr. Lacy gained career experience at a banking school and community college in Reykjavik.
A graduate of Smith College and Colorado State University, Dr. Lacy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music History, and a Master of Science and PhD in Sociology. She is affiliated with the Association of American Studies and earlier with the Nordic Association of American Studies and the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. Throughout her career, she has contributed her knowledge to six English-to-Icelandic and Icelandic-to-English dictionaries, "Ring of Seasons: Iceland - Its Culture and History," "The Flight of Time: Robert Lacy and Family," "Puffy the Puffin," a children's book, and various other books.
Beyond her status as a respected and longstanding figure in her field, she has been awarded many times for her professional endeavors, earning grants through the United States Information Service, the Research Fund of the University of Iceland, the Cobb Partnership Award from the U.S. Embassy in Iceland, and the Ford Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Lacy has been recognized in three editions of Who's Who in the World.
