She was recently recognized as the chair of the department of English language and literature, chair of English majors, and chair of the translation and TESOL graduate program. As an educator, her expertise extends to the areas of computer-mediated communication, technology-mediated language learning, second language socialization and corpus-applied linguistics.
Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Ha has received numerous awards in recognition of her commitment to education. She takes great pride in having received outstanding achievement awards from Sangmyung University for three consecutive years, in addition to being selected as the recipient of the Best Paper Award from the Korea Contents Association in 2013, 2014 and 2017. Prior to pursuing a career in English education, Dr. Ha attended Seoul National University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, with a minor in English language and literature, in 1994. Upon graduating, she joined the International Banking Division of Seoul Bank, where she rose to the rank of bank officer. Dr. Ha held this position until joining the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in 1997.
While serving as a section chief of the finance division with KEPCO, Dr. Ha was inspired to pursue a career in education. Although her work was stable, she dreamed of developing a different career goal and returned to Seoul National University, where she received a Master of Arts in Foreign Language Education and English in 2004. Dr. Ha completed doctoral coursework at the university before temporarily relocating to the United States to pursue a PhD in Applied Linguistics and Foreign Language Education at The University of Texas at Austin, which she received in 2009.
Early in her career, Dr. Ha served as a part-time lecturer with Konkuk University, Hankuk University, Hanyang University and Seoul National University. She was recognized as a lecturer with the department of English language education at Inha University from 2010 to 2011, and as an assistant professor with the department of English language and literature at Cheongju University from 2011 to 2012. Since joining Sangmyung University in 2012, Dr. Ha has served in the roles of assistant professor of the division of English studies, chair of the department of English language and literature, chair of English majors, and chair of the translation and TESOL graduate program.
In an effort to remain active and engaged in the field of education, Dr. Ha serves as a member of numerous editorial boards, including Call-EJ online, Korea Association of Multimedia-Assisted Language Learning, and Applied Linguistics Association of Korea (ALAK). She is a former member of the editorial board with the English Teachers Association in Korea and Korea English Education Society, as well as a former international co-chair of Globalization and Localization in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (GLoCALL).
Since 2010, Dr. Ha has contributed dozens of articles to professional journals pertaining to her areas of expertise. Particularly, she published an article entitled as Linking adverbials in first-year Korean university EFL learners' writing: a corpus-informed analysis in the Journal of Computer Assisted Language Learning that is indexed in Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI).
Most recently, her article, "Using the Inverted Classroom to Teach Writing: A Preliminary Study," was published in the Asia-pacific Journal of Multimedia Services Convergent with Art, Humanities, and Sociology in 2017.
