Backed by 25 years of professional excellence in his field, Dr. Kwon currently serves as a professor in the Department of Safety Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (Seoul Tech). Additionally, he works as the vice president and editor-in-chief of the Korean Consumer Safety Society as well as the editor-in-chief of the Korean Elevator Society. At the beginning of his career, he started at Kwandong University for 15 years and he had a working experience as a visiting lecturer and visiting professor for the University of Central Florida (UCF) in USA and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UCP) in Spain.
A graduate of KyungHee University, Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey, Dr. Kwon sequentially holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Korea and a Master of Science in the USA. After graduation from Texas Tech University with a PhD in 1990, he graduated from Yonsei University with a Doctor of Business Administration. Dr. Kwon unusually holds two Doctors (PhD) degrees in Ergonomics and MIS (Management Information System).
In order to remain active and engaged among his professional circles, he affiliates himself with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (USA), the Korean Ergonomics Society, the Korean Consumer Safety Society, the Korean Safety Society, and the Korean Industrial Engineering Society, as well as many others. He is serving as a technical committee member in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) conference in the USA and a technical committee member in Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) conference in Spain. Throughout his career, he has contributed his knowledge to more than 10 books, including his 3-bestseller "Industrial Ergonomics", "Industrial Safety Engineering" and "Introduction to Computers," as well as many articles covering general safety management and railway safety management. He has served as an academic advisor of many successful graduates in the graduation school in Seoul Tech and he is currently serving as a safety consultant at Samsung Corporation, which is a major industry in Korea, in the safety culture area.
Beyond his status as an esteemed and versatile figure in his specialty, Dr. Kwon has been awarded many times for his professional endeavors. In addition to earning a Student Research Award through Texas Tech University, he won the Distinguished Paper Award from the Korean Railway Association. He has served as an invited speaker worldwide, including the ORP international conference in 2006, 2012 and 2017. In the near future, Dr. Kwon intends to have a worldwide consulting company with worldwide friends and experience the continued growth and success of his career.
