After losing his father and stepfather to cancer, Dr. Williams was inspired to pursue a career in oncology. Over the years, he has developed wide-ranging expertise in a variety of cancers, especially lung, head and neck, CNS, gastrointestinal, prostate, colorectal and lymphoma. Dr. Williams uses his expertise to customize each patient's treatment, choosing from the most advanced treatment options to enable precise tumor targeting, while minimizing exposure to normal healthy tissues and organs. Dr. Williams practices at the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Atlanta and Alpharetta, where he is a leader and participant in several weekly Multidisciplinary Tumor Boards, where patients' treatments are discussed and coordinated with surgical and medical oncologists. He and the Northside team are committed to providing a national standard of care level of expertise for each patient's therapy.
Dr. Williams received his Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University in 1988, and holds a Masters' Degree in Physiology from Temple University. Following his surgical internship at the Columbia University Hospitals/St. Luke's Roosevelt, he entered residency in Radiation Oncology at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center in New York City, where he was elected Chief Resident by the faculty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and the recipient of the James A. McLaurin Award for Excellence in Research in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. His professional affiliations include the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American Brachytherapy Society as well as many others.
An expert in his field, Dr. Williams has been recognized many times for his work, earning Top 10 Doctor Awards at the local and state levels.
