The daughter of Henry Clifford and Mabel Pauline Nichols, Ms. Thomassen retired in 2002. Throughout her career, she was a central member of various medical missions and task forces, including the medical mission for Mississippi Katrina Relief. She has also contributed to her field as a lecturer.
In 1974, Ms. Thomassen obtained an AA in Nursing from the Southern Colorado State College. She continued her studies at this same university, receiving a BA in Psychology with distinction in 1975. Later in 1986, Ms. Thomassen graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a BSN, magna cum laude. She was certified by RN Washington.
From 1975 to 2002, Ms. Thomassen was a clinical spine educator at the Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. In 1987, she was promoted to staff nurse of the third orthopedic unit and preceptor of RNs and student RNs. As an esteemed medical and surgical nurse, Ms. Thomassen was a member of the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses. She has contributed to her field through her publications including in "Spinal Disease and Surgical Interventions" in 1995 and "Making Sense of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery" in 1998.
Ms. Thomassen has appeared in various Marquis Who's Who publications, including the third edition of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals and the 32nd and 33rd editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry. She also has been featured in the 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 55th, 56th, 57th, 62nd, and 63rd editions of Who's Who in America, as well as the fourth and fifth editions of Who's Who in American Nursing and the 19th through 24th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women. Her achievements have been featured in the first, third, seventh, and eighth editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, as well as the 26th edition of Who's Who in the West and the 17th through 20th and 22nd through 26th editions of Who's Who in the World.
Born on January 19, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Thomassen married Ruben Thomassen on November 10, 1979. The couple blended six children, Rhonda, Terry, Diana, Philipp, Jody, and Barbara into a warm and loving family.
