Retired since 1991, Mr. Herrmann held the position of circuit judge in Woodstock, IL, for more than 15 years. Prior to his service in that role, he served in a private law practice in McHenry, IL, from 1959 to 1974. Outside of his career in the court room, he acted as a faculty member of the National Judicial College in Reno in 1976. Mr. Herrmann is also a veteran, having served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.
Mr. Herrmann graduated from Valparaiso University with a Juris Doctors in 1957 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1957. He was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1970, the Seventh Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals in 1966, the Northern District of the United States District Court of Illinois in 1960, and in the state of Illinois in 1958. He is a member of the Illinois Judges Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta. He has also served as a member of American Legion for 55 years.
Mr. Herrmann was recognized with the Worldwide Lifetime Achievement in 2017, and has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. He is the son of Louise Ida Herrmann and Rudolf Henry, and grew up alongside 12 brothers and sisters. He has been married to Fran Mary Herrmann for more than 60 years. They have three children, Mark, Karen, and Paul, as well as two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, reading, gardening, and exercising.
