Throughout her career, she has honed her expertise in English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) student teacher education, technology-enhanced language education, second-language acquisition, learner autonomy and motivation, and cooperative learning. Especially, she has focused on the instructional strategies about how to integrate new technology into EFL student teacher education in order to inspire and motivate EFL student teachers to be competent and confident in developing digital literacy for their future teaching practice.
A graduate of Kyungbook National University, The Pennsylvania State University, and Hannam University, Dr. Jeong holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language Education, a Master of Education in Language and Literacy Education, and a PhD in English Education. In order to remain active and engaged among her professional circles, she affiliates herself with the Korea English Education Society, where she serves as a vice president, the Korean Association of Teachers of English, where she serves as a treasurer and the International Workshop on Creative Research for Education & Technology, where she has lent her time as a general chair. Dr. Jeong also serves as a senior director of the editing committee for the Journal of Korean Contents.
Over the years, Dr. Jeong has lent her vast breadth of knowledge to a number of publications, including Computer Assisted Language Learning, the International Journal of Knowledge and Learning, the Indian Journal of Science and Technology, and the International Journal of Contents, as well as many others. Since the mid-2000s, she has covered a plethora of topics such as preparing EFL student teachers with new technology in the Korean context, integrating a web-based platform to promote creativity and authenticity in language classrooms, a study on the integration of Google Docs as a web-based collaborative learning platform in EFL writing instruction, integrating the social networking system as the course management platform, fantasy literature in English education, and the analysis of the pedagogical perspectives represented in the movie "Dangerous Minds." Looking toward the future, Dr. Jeong intends to continue pursuing groundbreaking research in the field.
