SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF KOREA, November 13, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Minsu Park, PhD, a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Park celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Park is an accomplished principal research engineer with the Korean Electric Power Corporation, also known as KEPCO KPS. His developments have allowed KEPCO KPS to operate and maintain a network of 25 nuclear power units in the Republic of Korea, together producing the sixth largest nuclear power collection in the world with a capacity of over 23 thousand megawatts. Dr. Park has developed remotely operated inspection systems, cleaning systems, and even underwater robots for the upkeep of nuclear reactors, and was awarded a 2009 Research Achievement Award by the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
Born to Kyorim Park and Changsuk Lee in the Republic of Korea, Dr. Park attended Korea University in Seoul and joined KEPCO KPS in 1992 as a mechanical engineer. He earned a PhD in 2009, and in 2011, he was appointed to research project manager with the Ministry of Industry. That year, Dr. Park also joined the board of Korean Technology Innovation affiliated with the Ministry of Industry. These appointments were made on the merit of the many technologies Dr. Park developed for Korean energy infrastructure. Some key technologies were methods for remote inspection and phased array ultrasonic test for evaluation inside a reactor. With the Tohoku Earthquake of 2011 demonstrating exactly the kinds of dangers facing a nuclear plant in that part of the world, KEPCO KPS relies on Dr. Park's expertise to monitor and maintain their nuclear reactor units.
In addition to an official capacity within these institutions, Dr. Park supports industry groups like the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Korean Nuclear Society, the Korean Society of Pressure Vessels and Piping, the Korean Society of Fluid Machinery, and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing. He has been named president of KEPCO KPS in 2002, 2005, and 2014, and is the 2014 KEPCO Patient Contest Grand Prize winner. Dr. Park was selected for inclusion in the 2016 volume of Who's Who in the World. He enjoys reading, and exercises such as swimming, hiking, and riding a bicycle.
