A management professional of many years, Mr. DeBusk was born in Pikeville, KY, in 1956. He studied extensively across the United States, first earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1979. Mr. DeBusk continued his studies with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Tennessee in 1987. He currently serves as a vice president of performance and process improvement at Universal Health Services (UHS), which involves spearheading and managing plans to enhance processes, improve performance, and reduce waste at hospitals under the UHS system.
Mr. DeBusk's career began when he served as a management systems consultant for HCA's Management Services, LP, in Nashville, TN, from 1983 to 1985. This led to a position as corporate director of cost accounting at the Health Central System in Minneapolis, MN, which he held until 1986, a senior manager position for RSM McGladrey in Minneapolis, MN, which he held until 1991, and an instructor at St. Mary's University of Minnesota, which he held until 1992. Mr. DeBusk went on to GE Healthcare in Milwaukee, WI, where he served as a senior manager until accepting his current role in 2007.
Mr. DeBusk's work has earned him memberships in several organizations, including the Institute of Industrial Engineering, the American Society for Quality, and Alpha Pi Mu. He became a certified professional engineer for the state of Tennessee in 1984, and became certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt for General Electric in 2001. Mr. DeBusk is married to Mary Elizabeth Roberts, with whom he has one daughter, Margaret Amelia Monroe, and two stepchildren, Amy Henderson and James Roberts. In addition, Mr. DeBusk has appeared in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
