Prior to pursuing a career in the field of medicine, Dr. Shin received a Bachelor's degree from Wonkwang University in 2007. He subsequently completed an internship through Seoul National University Hospital in 2008, residency through Veterans Health Service Medical Center in 2012, and fellowship through the Korea University Anam Medical Center in 2013. Most recently, Dr. Shin attended Korea University, where he completed a Master's degree in 2014, and a PhD in 2017.
While pursuing formal education, Dr. Shin briefly served as an associate professor with the Korea University Anam Medical Center. He later joined the Ewha Woman's University Medical Center as an associate professor, a position he held for two years. Since 2016, Dr. Shin has been recognized as a physician within the department of orthopedic surgery at Veterans Health Service Medical Center. In recognition of his commitment to health care and medical education, Dr. Shin was selected as the recipient of the LG Travelling Fellowship Award in 2017.
