Prior to obtaining his current role, he lent his expertise to Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea in the roles of intern, resident, fellow, clinical assistant professor, and assistant professor. Additionally, he provided medical aid in Ghana, Africa in 2012.
A graduate of The Catholic University of Korea, Dr. Kim holds an MD and a PhD. He is affiliated with the Korean Ophthalmological Society, the Korean Retina Society, the Korean Uveitis Society, and the Korean Medical Association. Throughout his career, he has contributed to a number of articles, including "Clinical Features of Ocular Toxocariasis in Adult Korean Patients" and "Ocular manifestations of idiopathic aplastic anemia: retrospective study and literature review." His work has been featured in the Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He has been recognized many times for his work in the field, earning Best Scientific Poster through the European VitreoRetinal Society in 2011.
