A practicing gastroenterologist with Affiliates in Gastroenterology (AIG) since 1987, Dr. Samach is among a small group of doctors who encompass one of the most comprehensive gastroenterology practices in the state of New Jersey. Working out of the practice's Morristown location, with a second location in West Orange, AIG serves patients throughout the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York areas. A practice that is devoted to consultative gastroenterology, they specialize in the treatment of all diseases of the digestive system such as irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, Gastroesophageal Reflux Diseases, liver disease, and cancers of the digestive tract.
Board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology with 40 years of experience in his field, Dr. Samach formerly upheld his own private practice in Denville, NJ, from 1978 to 1987, before joining AIG. He spent many years as vice-chairman of the department of medicine and as director of the endoscopy unit at Morristown Medical Center, served as trustee of the Metrowest division of the United Jewish Federation, and trustee of the Temple B'nai Or in Morristown, NJ.
Dr. Samach earned a BA from Cornell University with distinction and a MD from New York University, later completing both his internship and residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. He subsequently spent two years in the U.S. Air Force before returning to Montefiore Hospital to complete a GI fellowship. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterological Association, Dr. Samach is also a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and former president of the New Jersey Gastro Society and the Morris County Medical Society.
Included in the Castle-Connolly Survey as one of the Top Doctors in the New York Metro area and as one of the Top Doctors in New Jersey in "Inside New Jersey" for the past 17 years, Dr. Samach was also named one of America's Top Physicians by the Consumers' Research Council of America and has been cited in both Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the East. Married to Alice Blumberg for nearly 50 years with three children, Dr. Samach enjoys playing tennis in his free time.
