    GREENVILLE, SC, January 12, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert Dobson, DPS, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Robert Dobson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A long-serving lawyer and taxation specialist, Mr. Dobson transitioned from his former professions in 1993 to engage in and support Christian ministry and charity, where he has continued his lifetime of service and philanthropy by working closely with Campus Crusade for Christ and many other organizations. He is noted for personally furnishing and raising most of the funding for numerous projects, including the mailing of "The Jesus Film" to all households in South Carolina in 2002 while serving as vice chairman of the Jesus Video Project of South Carolina. He has visited China, Cambodia, and Kenya as a missionary of History's Handful. As an attorney, Mr. Dobson formed Dobson and Dobson, Attorneys at Law with his father as a firm specializing in tax and corporate matters, and held a seat on the boards of numerous business corporations. He spearheaded the concept of the professional corporation in his home state. Mr. Dobson's life was later filmed by Campus Crusade as part of the "Secrets of Success" series, viewed by approximately 124 million people throughout the world.

Mr. Dobson, fondly referred to as "Bobby", was born in Greenville on November 27, 1938, the son of the late Robert A. Dobson, Jr. and Dorothy Leonard Dobson. He graduated Greenville Senior High School as valedictorian of the class of 1956, and was one of the inaugural recipients of the National Merit Scholarship, among other honors. He attended the University of South Carolina with a major in accounting, and upon graduation was selected for inclusion in Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, where he served as an officer. Mr. Dobson was a member of the Clariosophic Literary Society, the German Club, the U.S.C. varsity tennis team, and student government, founding and leading the Interfraternity Council Tribunal at the University of South Carolina. As president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, he was named an Interfraternity Man of the Year and graduated in 1960, summa cum laude, again as valedictorian. In 1962, he completed a JD, magna cum laude, from the university's law school after serving as chief justice of Wig and Robe and leading numerous societies in the school. Mr. Dobson also passed his exam to become a certified public accountant during his first year of law school.

In 1991, Mr. Dobson's daughter Laura passed away, creating in him a new spiritual awareness which culminated in his transitioning from professional practice to ministry and service. Since then, he has supported groups such as the Dobson Tape Ministry, where he was chairman and provided free Christian materials to the elderly in nursing homes and retirement centers. He worked with Wisdom in Living Life Ministry, the Salvation Army, and ElderSource Senior Ministries. He received the 2011 Distinguished National Service Award from School Ministries, Inc. for his many years of service as its chairman. Mr. Dobson has served in numerous roles for A Child's Haven, notably as an instrumental part of constructing its new facility in 2014. He was a founding member and acting chairman of Greenville Connect in his home town, and secretary-treasurer of the South Carolina Christian Foundation. Mr. Dobson has also contributed to the State of South Carolina Bipartisan Lottery Impact Study Commission and the Capital Campaign Steering Committee that brought the National Christian College Athletic Association headquarters to Greenville. He was chairman of Homeless Children International, which builds and supports facilities for homeless children, and has been active for two decades with the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, which he serves as chairman of its Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Dobson has been honored by his alma mater with the 2005 Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award for Distinguished Public Service and with the Story of Character Award, presented by the school and the Southeastern Conference to former student athletes who have distinguished records of public service. He founded, supervises, and funds the Dobson Volunteer Service Program at the University of South Carolina, which engages in humanitarian, missionary, and spiritual activities. Mr. Dobson has served The King's College in New York City as a board member and has been chairman of the board of Limestone College in South Carolina, which awarded him with the honorary degree of Doctor of Public Service in 2002. He has supported innumerable projects and accrued numerous other honors, including the Stephen Alonzo Jackson and John G. Tower Distinguished Alumni Awards from Kappa Sigma.

Mr. Dobson has appeared in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in American Law. He is now married to his wife, Elizabeth, and has three children in addition to Mr. Dobson's three surviving children from his previous marriage. When his sons were younger, Mr. Dobson participated with them in motorcycling sports, and he later took up hunting, notably for the wild turkey.
