Prior to this appointment, he was a part-time lecturer for Chungnam University from 2004 to 2005, and 2010 to 2011. Dr. Kim began his career in 2004 as a researcher with the Center of Eco-Biotechnology Management for CO2 Fixation at Hiroshima University.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Kim pursued an education at Chungnam National University, completing a Master's Program with the Graduate School of Science from 1999 to 2001. He concluded his studies at Hiroshima University in 2004, receiving a Doctor of Philosophy from the Environmental Dynamics and Management Division of the Graduate School of Biosphere Sciences. Dr. Kim has been classified as a plant biology engineer by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea since 2007. Additionally, Dr. Kim was enlisted in the Republic of Korea Army from 1995 to 1997.
As a respected voice in the field, Dr. Kim has contributed in numerous ways in his professional circles. He is the author of articles in such publications as the Korean Journal of Environmental Biology, Entomological Research, the Korean Journal of Environmental Agriculture, the Journal of the Korea Society of Environmental Restoration and the Korean Journal of Agricultural and Forest Meteorology. He has also authored "The Challenges of Agro-Environmental Research in Monsoon Asia" in 2016, "The Biodiversity Observation Network in the Asia-Pacific Region" in 2012, "Aquatic and Levee Plants in Paddy Ecosystem of Korea" in 2011, "Aquatic Invertebrate in Paddy Ecosystem of Korea" in 2010, "Impacts, Vulnerability, and Adaptation of Agroecosystem in Climate Change" in 2007, and "Ecological Issues in a Changing World: Status, Response and Strategy" in 2004.
Dr. Kim is affiliated with several professional organizations. He was a postdoctoral fellow for the National Institute of Agricultural Science from 2005 to 2011 and the National Institute of Forest Science from 2004 to 2005. He was a councilor for the Korean Society of Climate Change Research and the Korean Society of Environmental Biology. He is a member of the Korean Society of Environmental Agriculture, the Ecological Society of Korea, the Korean Society of Soil Science and Fertilizer, and the Entomological Society of Korea. Attributing his success to his passion and honesty, Dr. Kim became involved with his industry due to his interest in observing and recording nature. The highlight of his career thus far has been his study of biodiversity of agro-ecosystems with the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Looking towards the future, Dr. Kim hopes to continue his impressive efforts in his vocation, cementing his status as a leader in his field while remaining in his native Republic of Korea.
