With over 40 years of professional experience to his name, Mr. Stanford currently works as a senior trial attorney for Stanford, Ryan & Associates, a position he has held since 2015. Prior to this position, he took upon his first legal appointment at Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps, where he was mentored by Ed Luce himself. Specializing in professional negligence claims in California since 1990, he has been licensed to practice law by the California State Bar since 1975. Additionally, Mr. Stanford has been admitted to practice by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 1976, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California in 1977, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1979, and the Supreme Court of California in 1979.
Prior to his prolific legal career, Mr. Stanford pursued an education at the California Western School of Law at the United States International University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Sociology, cum laude. Following this accomplishment, he concluded his studies at USC Gould School of Law, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence and contributed to the Southern California Law Review as writer and articles editor from 1973 to 1975. Mr. Stanford later served as a legal clerk for Judge Malcolm Lucas, and in 2011 was certified in legal malpractice by the board of legal specialization of the California State Bar.
Beyond his work in the courtroom, Mr. Stanford has held several notable positions with charitable and civic organizations within his community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Chula Vista Police Foundation and previously served on the board of trustees for the Francis Parker School, and the board of directors for the National Injury Prevention Foundation, where he also was recognized as a founding member. He has also held roles in the March of Dimes Foundation, including as former chairman for the National Telethon Committee and the board of directors for the San Diego and Imperial county chapters. Furthermore, he has been involved in multiple capacities with the Republican Party, including as a member of the central committees for the Republican Party of San Diego County and the California Republican Party, president of the Republican Associates and Professional Club in 1981, and the president of Republican Business in 1982.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Stanford has significantly contributed to institutions and establishments in relation to his areas of expertise. A member of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, he was appointed to the San Diego City Historical Sites Board on the San Diego City Council by Mayor Pete Wilson. He has remained involved with the San Diego County Bar Association, having been on the Superior Court Committee, the Federal Court Committee, and the Legal Ethics and Unlawful Practices Committee. In school, Mr. Stanford was also affiliated with the Student Bar Association, serving as a chairman of the Finance Committee, member of the Executive Council, and as co-chairman of the Orientation Committee in 1973.

Inspired by his desire to make a difference in the lives of people around him, Mr. Stanford has fulfilled many personal goals in his ventures as a writer and academic organizer. While attending United States International University, Mr. Stanford served as chairman of the Homecoming Committee, on the Student Activities Council, vice president of the Circle K Club, president of the second Men's Dormitory, on the executive committee of the All-College Council, and as the president's assistant for the associated student body. He additionally has contributed numerous articles and seminar materials to the Journal on Legal Malpractice & Ethics.
