With more than 25 years of industry experience, Ms. Little currently works as the Capability Area Manager with the Virtual Health Research Task Area at the Medical Research and Material Command for the United States Army. Since 2013, she has also worked as the Laboratory Manager of the Mobile Health Innovation Center at the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center. Prior to these appointments, she served as Project Manager for the Geneva Foundation from 2011 to 2013, the Intergovernmental Personnel Act at the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center from 2007 to 2011, as Special Assistant to the Director and Government Liaison for the Center of Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas at Saint Francis University from 2007 to 2011, and as Director for the Augusta Office at the Allen Corporation of America from 2005 to 2007. Previously, she held several positions for Center for Total Access between 1997 and 2005, including Deputy Director, Director of Distance Learning, and Director of Multimedia. Earlier in her career, she worked at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center as Chief Medical Illustrator from 1991 to 1997.
Prior to obtaining these professional roles, Ms. Little pursued an undergraduate degree at Hope College, earning a Bachelors of Science in 1988, and later going on to earn a Master of Science from Augusta University in 1991. This amalgam of education would later serve collectively in her calling to medical technology research management, providing skills that encompassed medical expertise, graphical, technological, artistic and ultimately leadership talents, and yield fruit for the decades to follow.
An expert in her field, Ms. Little is affiliated with various professional organizations. She maintains membership with the American Telemedicine Association, the Association of Medical Illustrators, the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society, Rotary International and the Special Operations Forces Medical Association. She is also an honorary member of the Society of Military Flight Surgeons. An invited speaker and lecturer for several presentations, Ms. Little has contributed articles to professional journals such as the International Journal of Healthcare Technology and Management, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, Military Medicine, and the Journal of Mobile Technology in Medicine. From 1997 to 1998, she was recognized as a board member for the School of Allied Health Alumni Association at the Medical College of Georgia. She has served as an assistant adjunct professor with the Medical Illustration Graduate Program at Augusta University since 1997.
In recognition of her contributions, Ms. Little has accrued numerous accolades and honors throughout her career. A Vesalian scholar, she has received grants from JPC-1, U.S. Army Medical Command, Army Medical Department, Advanced Practice Center for East Central Health District VI, and the United States Simulation and Training Command. Selected for inclusion in the 1991 edition of Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges, she has been presented with an Official Army Commendation in 1993, an Army Certificate of Achievement in 1994, a Distinguished Alumnus of the Year honor from the School of Allied Health Sciences at the Medical College of Georgia in 2000, a Scientific Poster Award at the Annual Meeting of the American Telemedicine Association in 2001 and 2009, and a Superior Civilian Service Award in 2004.
Ms. Little earned a Rotarian of the Year honor in 2007, a G. Rufus Sessions Award for Excellence in Mobile Health in 2010, and the U.S. Army's Greatest Inventions Award for 2010 in 2011 for mCARE, a secure mobile application to improve communication among wounded warriors, doctors and third parties. Most recently, she and her team received the American Innovation Award from the Coalition for Government Procurement at their 2017 Excellence in Partnership Awards for their innovative Mobile Health Care Environment Project. Looking towards the future, Ms. Little hopes to continue excelling in the field while cementing her status as a versatile leader in her present vocations.
