During his tenure, he served as editor-in-chief for the Journal of Local History and Culture from 2014 to 2015. Additionally, Dr. Kim was on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Korean Historical Review from 2013 to 2016.
Before obtaining his professional roles, Dr. Kim pursued an education at Sogang University, earning a Bachelor of Korean History in 1987. He followed this opportunity with a Master of Arts in Korean History, which he received from the Graduate School at Korea University in 1990. In 1997, Dr. Kim concluded his studies at Korea University, graduating with a PhD in Korean History.
As an expert in the field, Dr. Kim has contributed many written works, including his 2012 book "The Transition of Regional Hegemony in Kyongsang-do during Choson Dynasty: Yongnam Farming Method and Korean-Style Regional Development," and the 2001 book "The State and the Sajok in Mid-Choson Period." He has also contributed articles to various esteemed journals, such as the Journal of Korean Studies and Acta Koreana. Prior to his current responsibilities, Dr. Kim enlisted with the Korean Augmentation to the United States Army in 1983, attaining the rank of Sergeant until his honorable discharge in 1985.
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Kim has accrued numerous accolades and honors throughout his career. His work has been honored as "The Best Book of the Year" by the Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in both 2002 and 2012. Attributing his success to his persistent thirst for knowledge and extensive research in his field, he was inspired to enter his field by stories from his father about his ancestors and family background. Looking towards the future, Dr. Kim hopes to continue broadening his knowledge in his field whilst sharing his expertise with future generations of promising professionals.
