The clinical program director of the Home Hemodialysis program at Kidney Center, Inc., since 2009, Ms. Mardirossian previously worked at Toronto General Hospital from 1982 to 2005. As a Nephrology Nurse Specialist, she successfully implemented the Nocturnal Daily Home Hemodialysis at Toronto General Hospital in Toronto, Canada since 1998, and had proven the program to be among the most successful patient outcomes around the world. Presenting these outcomes to the North American and European International Nephrology Symposiums and World Medical Congress, she provided the information to replicate implementing the modality successfully in seven different countries. The Research Data and findings of the patient outcomes she collected were presented to one of their newly hired nephrologists, Dr. Christopher Chan, who in turn published her data for these outcomes in the American Medical Journals as well as Pub Med as of 2003.
Ms. Mardirossian was the first to prove against the belief of her medical directors, Dr. R. Richardson and Dr. S. Fenton, that Peripheral Arterial Calcifications could be, not only improved, but 100% reversed with this modality. She was the first to implement the most successful Button Hole technique using Arterio-Venous Fistula Accesses (AVF) with the Nocturnal patients, providing longevity and cosmetic appearance of the AVF used in the modality, providing very individualized prescription formulation with each patient. Among many positive outcomes in ESRD patients, the most rewarding was a newlywed young couple, the wife being on Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis, had a full term pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby. These outstanding optimum patients' outcomes providing quality of life was published on the front pages of leading Canadian newspapers and led to the full funding of the Nocturnal program by the Government Health Department and pharmaceutical companies.
Earning her Master of Science in Nursing and Nephrology at ECE Intertiol in 2008, and recently achieving the title of Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, Ms. Mardirossian is a former member of the Canadian Nurses Association. She is a current member of the Canadian Nephrology Nursing Association and the Armenian American Medical Association. With published articles in medical journals regarding optimum patient outcomes following nocturnal dialysis, Ms. Mardirossian was awarded with several accolades, including the Oxford University Lifetime Award and numerous citations from Cambridge Who's Who and the Association of Therapeutic Touch Practitioners.
In January 2005 she was brought to California to implement the Daily and Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis Programs in South Los Angeles County (Glendale and Orange County), which were accomplished successfully using Fresenius 2008H and 2008K dialysis machines as well as Nx-Stage machines. In 2010 she had also implemented the In-Center Nocturnal Hemodialysis in Glendale successfully with 25 patients in the program.
Throughout her years of experience in establishing the Home Hemodialysis modalities, she has evaluated countless dialysis machines, equipment and supplies, always contributing modifications to improve and optimize their use. For example, it was her suggestion to add a "Y" med port to the normal saline infusion line on the Fresenius extracorporeal circuit to facilitate ease for home patients to withdraw saline from it with a syringe, and be able to infuse medications as needed. She was also able to modify the formula with the Nx-Stage machine to provide Nocturnal Home Hemodialysis to the patients, and as a result made it possible for the Nx Stage dialysis machine to have FDA approval for the Nocturnal modality.
Acknowledging the lack of expertise in the realm of dialysis, Ms. Mardirossian seeks to improve existing treatment modalities through education, training, and consulting. She attributes her success to her dedication and humanitarian approach to her patients, always exercising preventive measures to the pre-CKD patients to delay their need in initiating dialysis for many years. Ms. Mardirossian's goal has always been to provide these superb modalities to all patients nationwide.
Married with children, Ms. Mardirossian spends her spare time professionally singing and performing concerts with her God gifted three octaves of Spinto Coloratura Soprano voice. In 2005 and 2007 Ms. Mardirossian proudly carrying the Flag of an Armenian Country, she had represented Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent country to participate in the World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood. With these competitions winning Gold and Silver Medals in four different categories of singing from Pop to Opera, she had made it possible for Nagorno-Karabakh to be participating in WCOPA as an independent country. Recently she has released an album titled "Triumph", comprising of two CD's and a DVD titled "Requiem for Genocides" a chronicle presenting human atrocities around the world, that received two awards for human rights and freedom of mankind, as well as a letter of recognition by previous U.S. President, Barak Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama, for the song Triumph written by Ms. Mardirossian about the freedom of mankind across the globe.
