With 10 years of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Joo currently works as a senior research scientist at the Department of Environment and Ecology for the Center for Atmospheric and Environmental Modeling, in addition to the role of lecturer at the Da Vinci College of General Education for Chung-Ang University. Prior to these appointments, he served as an adjunct professor in the Department of Biological Science and Biotechnology at the College of Life Science and Nanotechnology for Hannam University from 2013 to 2015, and as adjunct professor in the Division of Chemistry and Bio-Environmental Sciences at the College of Natural Sciences for Seoul Women's University from 2011 to 2012. Dr. Joo began his career in 2007, holding the position of a full-time researcher in the Research Institute for Veterinary Science at the College of Veterinary Medicine for Seoul National University for a one-year term.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Joo pursued an education at Dankook University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 1996. He continued his studies at Hiroshima University, receiving a Master of Science in Biosphere Science in 2000. Dr. Joo concluded his academic aspirations in 2004, graduating from Hiroshima University with a PhD in Biosphere Science.
Beyond his efforts within the field, Dr. Joo has contributed to numerous institutions outside of his professional circles. From 1990 to 1992, he was enlisted in service for the Republic of Korea Army. Dr. Joo is also an accomplished author in his own right, contributing numerous articles to such professional journals as the Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, American Journal of Plant Sciences, Atmospheric Environment, and the Journal of Ecology and Environment.
In addition to his career endeavors, Dr. Joo remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained membership with the Ecological Society of Korea, the Korean Forest Society, the Korean Society of Climate Change Research, and the EAFES. Furthermore, Dr. Joo was recognized as a research fellow by the Department of Environmental Dynamics and Management of the Graduate School of Biosphere Science at Hiroshima University from 2004 to 2006.
Although he has accomplished much throughout his impressive career, Dr. Joo is most proud of his development of the multi-automated chamber system for the field measurement of CO2 exchange components on the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystems. Looking toward the future, Dr. Joo hopes to continue sharing his research and expertise to future generations through his work and teachings at the Center for Atmospheric and Environmental Modeling and Chung-Ang University.
