Carol Leybourn Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    APPLETON, WI, March 01, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Carol Leybourn with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Leybourn celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Working in the industry for more than 60 years, Ms. Leybourn is an accomplished musician who has spent the past 20 years teaching as a chamber music specialist at Lawrence University Academy of Music, a residential liberal arts college and conservatory of music devoted exclusively to undergraduate education and located in Appleton, WI. While in Ann Arbor, she soloed with the Ann Arbor Symphony, has been pianist and harpsichordist with the Sterling Chamber Players, the Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra, the Leybourn Trio and the Janssen Trio. A solo pianist since 1957, Ms. Leybourn toured Germany for the U.S. Information Agency in a cultural exchange program, has been collaborative pianist in concerts with many gifted young artists and has been responsible for establishing chamber music programs for junior high and high school students throughout the Midwest.

Following in the footsteps of her mother, Ms. Leybourn's daughter, Laura Elizabeth Kenney earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan in cello performance and is currently Principal Cello in the Fox Valley Symphony and conductor of the string program at both the Middle and High Schools in the Xavier School System in Appleton, Wisconsin. She and Ms. Leybourn have performed as a duo in concerts throughout the United States to benefit many arts organizations, including the Lake County Youth Orchestra in Grayslake, Illinois.

Ms. Leybourn is also known for her work as the arranger of "Combo" elementary books in Dixieland style (1987) and presently as the arranger for "Frustrated Accompanist", simplified piano accompaniments for string literature, both concertos and solos. Ms. Leybourn has also been active as a consultant for various piano teacher groups since 1975, was an adjunct music instructor for Ann Arbor Community Education, and instrumental music director for Greenhill School in Ann Arbor.

Dedicated to her local community for many years, Ms. Leybourn served on the original board of directors for the Ann Arbor Society of Musical Arts, was director of chamber music and jazz workshops for the David Adler Cultural Center in Libertyville, Illinois, and director of chamber music and adjunct piano faculty member at the College of Lake County, also in Illinois.

Ms. Leybourn was a Regents scholar who earned a Bachelor of Music with honors and Master of Music at the University of Michigan. Until retiring from Lawrence University in 2016, Ms. Leybourn maintained membership with several professional organizations, including the National Music Teachers Association, the Michigan and Wisconsin Music Teachers Associations and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Ms. Leybourn is also the mother of four children and enjoys art and researching genealogy in her free time. She has been cited in over 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
