He was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar Association in 1968, the Supreme Court for the United States in 1981, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Additionally, he has been an Overseer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a co-chairman for the Planned Giving Committee of the Walter Piston Society with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and a trustee for the Walter F. & Alice Gorham Foundation Inc.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Wacks pursued an education at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1964. He continued his studies in 1967, graduating from the Rutgers School of Law (Newark) with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Prior to these accomplishments, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, participating in Airborne Basic Training at Fort Bragg.
A respected voice in the field, Mr. Wacks is affiliated with numerous professional organizations. He is a member of the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey, the Estate Planning Council of Northern New Jersey, and the Center for Professional Responsibility for the American Bar Association. He has served as chairman for the Real Property Probate Trust Law Section with the New Jersey State Bar Association, chairman of a New Jersey state-chartered commercial bank, and the District X Ethics Committee for the Supreme Court of New Jersey from 1984 to 1985. In addition, he has been the president of the Morris County Bar Association. He has also served as general counsel for the Morris County section of the United Way of Northern New Jersey, as well as on the advisory board for a New Jersey commercial bank, and he has been the owner and on the board of directors of a New Jersey title insurance agency. He has found success as a writer as well, having had his work published in such journals as the Wisconsin Law Review.
Mr. Wacks has been recognized throughout his career for his accomplishments. He has been recognized among the Top 1% of America's Most Honored Professionals in 2016 and the 7% of the Wealth Managers in New Jersey. Holding an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 1973, he has been honored as a 2011 Five Star Wealth Manager in 2010, by Super Lawyers in 2011, and as a New Jersey Legal Leader by the Wall Street Journal in 2015. Most recently, he received the Client Satisfaction Award by the Elder Law Division of the American Institute of Legal Counsel in 2016. Looking towards the future, Mr. Wacks aims to cement his legacy as a leader in the field of law during his semi-retirement, and hopes to continue meeting and representing new people through his practice as well.
