Daniel R. Baker is a retired computer company executive and real estate broker who first started out as a mathematics teacher in the New York Public School system after studying at Tufts University and then earning an undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College in 1957. Becoming a computer programmer in 1959 for Systems Development Corporation in Paramus, NJ, he later worked for various organizations across New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Arizona. He was a programmer analyst for ITT, senior mathematician for Melpar Corporation, systems analyst for both Wolf Research and Development Corporation, and senior system analyst for the North American Rockwell Corporation. In 1970, he formed his own computer business, Data Associates, in both Phoenix, AZ, and Fairfax Station, VA. He has since retired the company after more than 30 years in business in 2002.
During his career, Mr. Baker completed postgraduate work at Fairleigh Dickinson University and the American University. He also graduated from the Realtors Institute at the University of Virginia. Notably, he served in the U.S. Army between 1954 and 1955 in the Veteran Korean War, just prior to completing his bachelor's degree.
A longtime member of the Washington Tufts Club, the Silvanus Packard Society, the Charles Tufts Society, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors Pioneer Club, and the Virginia Association of Realtors, where he served twice as director and was the recipient of a Lifetime Award, Mr. Baker is also an Eagle Scout. He continues to serve as a group leader for Dale Carnegie sales courses and has been volunteering for the annual fund campaign for Tufts University every year since 1976.
The recipient of a Five-Year Million Dollar Sales Club Award from the National Association of Realtors for his successes in real estate, Mr. Baker has been highlighted in countless editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Immigrating to the United States from Copenhagen in 1936, he has since been married to his wife of nearly 60 years, June Ellin Nebenzahl, and has two children. He enjoys art, music and antique automobiles.
