A successful career in medicine that dates back to the 1970s, where she finished her medical study as a diplomate of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Dr. Barents previously worked as a consultant for Youth Health Care for Provincial Groene Kruis Drenthe and Groningen, Netherlands. There, in collaboration with the University Medical Center of Groningen, she performed an investigation on cow's milk allergy in infants (1). She has also been a member of the chief works council for the Provincial Groene Kruis working on the National Vaccination Program. Other positions she has held over the course of her prolific career include sexologist for the Rutgers Stichting, resident physician at the University Medical Center of Groningen and the University Rehabilitation Center, Haren. In 2005 she graduated as Physician Elderly Care Medicine after specializing at the VU Medical Center, Amsterdam. From then till 2017, she has worked as a doctor in patient care for residential elderly and psychiatric patients, such as the Zonnehuisgroep, Vliethoven, Dignis, Icare, the GGZ and Meander.
In the meantime, as a researcher at the University Medical Center of Groningen, she acquired her Ph D graduation in 2015 with her thesis on heart failure in residential elderly (http://issuu.com/gildeprintdrukkerijen/docs/proefschrift_barents). A medical examiner in her home country of the Netherlands, Dr. Barents has been employed with de Medische en Psychologische Praktijk Noord in Zuidhorn from 2004-2018.
A diplomate since 1977, Dr. Barents remained active as a member of the Koninklijke Maatschappij der Geneeskunst, Verenso, the Cooperation of Specialists Elderly Care North Netherlands and Hartfalen Connect till 2018. Married to Jan de Monchy, with whom she had two sons, and after a divorce, married to Willem Bohmers since 1990, forming a family with two sons and daughters, she has been highlighted in four editions of Who's Who in the World in the past six years.
