A reviewer for the Pan American Journal of Public Health, The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, and Clinical Medicine Insights: Cardiology, Dr. Montes Pena also serves on the editorial boards of the American Medical Journal, the Journal of Medical Sciences (Faisalabad), and the Research Journal of Cardiology. In 2012, he received a second place award for his work in the Brazilian Journal of Cardiology, which was preceded by an award from the Benedito Pereira Nunes Foundation in 2011. He has contributed a plethora of articles to national and international publications, such as the Brazilian Archives of Cardiology, the Eastern Journal of Medicine, Experimental and Clinical Cardiology, and the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, among several others.
Dr. Montes Pena holds a Doctor of Medicine from Iguaçu University, as well as a diploma with a specialization in cardiology and master's degree in medical sciences, both from Fluminense Federal University.
