Prior to obtaining these roles, he worked as an affiliate associate professor, instructor, and surgical assistant with Keio University, and as a surgeon with Kawasaki City Hospital, Tokyo Denryoku Hospital, Okura National Hospital Tokyo Metropolitan Geriatric Hospital, and Mejiro Second Hospital. In addition, he has served as an assistant in the Kyorin University Hospital and held international positions as a visiting professor with Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary and a research fellow with the University of California, Irvine in the United States. Dr. Yoshida began his career as a student at Kyorin University, where he received an MD in 1988.
An expert in the medical industry, Dr. Yoshida is affiliated with a wide range of medical organizations, including the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery and the Japan Surgical Association. He is recognized as a fellow with the American College of Surgeons and senior fellow with the Japan Surgical Society. Recognized as a leader in healthcare, Dr. Yoshida has held numerous executive board positions, including as director of the Japanese Society for Wound Healing and Japanese Society of Ulcer Research. He has also served as a councilor for the Japan Surgical Association and the Japanese Society for Helicobacter Research. He was previously honored as the secretary general of the 10th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Helicobacter Research.
A respected voice in the field of medical research, Dr. Yoshida has published numerous works pertaining to his areas of expertise. He helped to develop HyperEye Medical System, a bright-field, full color fluorescence camera, and he is noted as one of the founders of the Japanese Society for Fluorescence Guided Surgery, as well as a vice-representative of the organization. He previously gained experience in the sentinel node concept in gastric cancer surgery while he was a resident at Keio University Hospital. Through his involvement with a study group, Dr. Yoshida performed clinical studies on postgastrectomy syndrome, with a particular focus on reflux esophagitis and cholecystolithiasis in gastroectomised patients. He has been credited with the establishment of the Postgastrectomy Syndrome Assessment Scale (PGSAS) as one of the originators of the Working Group on Assessment of Postgastrectomy Syndrome.
Noted for his many accomplishments in the field of medicine, Dr. Yoshida is well-known for his work involving stress and microcirculation. While pursuing formal education, he studied microcirculatory disturbance as a stress response under Dr. Masaki Kitajima, a former president of the International Society of Surgery, and Dr. Sandor Szabo, a director of the Hans Selye Academic Society. Since then, Dr. Yoshida has performed numerous experiments on microcirculatory disturbance as a stress response. He has also contributed significant findings on relationship between the dual control mechanism and Helicobacter pylori in the origin of peptic ulcer.
Throughout his career, Dr. Yoshida has been continually recognized for his contributions to the practice of medicine. He was most recently selected to receive the B. Braun Award from the European Society for Surgical Research in 2014. He previously received an Organizer Prize from the Japanese Study Group for Ulcer Research and Ulcer Research Prize from the Japanese Society of Experimental Ulcer, as well as a Histamine Receptor Prize. Dr. Yoshida has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
