With 40 years of industry experience, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki has worked as a surgical coordinator and administrative assistant for Dr. Richard L. Sawicki since 1983. Prior to this appointment, she served as a charge nurse for Mount St. Mary's Hospital from 1982 to 1984, and a clinical editor for the Springhouse Corporation from 1981 to 1982. Ms. Moraca-Sawicki began her career as an assistant professor in nursing at D'Youville College from 1977 to 1981.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki pursued an education at D'Youville College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1974. She concluded her studies in 1977, graduating from the University at Buffalo with a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing with specialty in Oncology. Ms. Moraca-Sawicki is certified in hyperbaric wound care.
Beyond her efforts within the field, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki has contributed to numerous endeavors in her professional circles. The president and board member for the PACE program since 2010, she is a board member for the Niagara County Medical Reserve Corps, Niagara Falls Community Development, past committee member of the Barbara S. Zimmer Holiday Wish Show, the Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation, and past board member of the adult daycare program for the Health Association of Niagara County. A current ex-officio member of the faculty of Niagara County Community College where she established the Medical Assisting Practice Lab, she previously held the roles of grant writer, publicity chair, vice president, co-chair, and on the Fundraising Committee for the La Salle Business Association where she still serve as Vice president of the American Businesswomen's Association. Ms. Moraca-Sawicki is a clinical consultant and externship site supervisor for the Niagara County Community College Medical Assistant Program.
A board member of of the Health Association of Niagara County since 1995, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki is associated with the NFC Development Corp., as well as a past fundraiser for the Barbara S. Zimmer Holiday Wish Show. The president of the Altar Rosary Guild for the St. Peter Altar & Rosary, she was also the founder and chair of the Festival of Lights Auction & Banquet with Our Lady of Fatima Shrine. In addition to her primary trade, she maintained membership with the American Association of University Professors, the New York State Nurses Association, American Businesswomen's Association, Management, LLC, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Additionally serving on the development committee for the first PACE program in Niagara County, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki is Board Chairperson for Complete Senior care, the PACE program established by HANCI. Ms. Moraca-Sawicki has been a member of the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Premier Event Fundraiser Committee since 2004, serving as co-chair in 2010./ This event has raised over $1.5 million to benefit the hospital's ICU and Heart Center. She has organized many fundraisers for the La Salle Business and Professional Center, ABWA, American Cancer Society, St. Peter's Alter Rosary Society, Niagara Catholic High School, Empower, HANCI, PACE, NIMAC's (Niagara Military Affairs Council) Bi-Annual Air Show, and multiple other community service groups. Through her work on these events she has helped to raise over $2 million dollars. Through the work of NIMAC (The Niagara Military Affairs Council) they were able to save the Niagara Falls Airbase from closure by the government's BRAC.
Ms. Moraca-Sawicki has found much success as an author as well, having contributed her writings to 20 publications such as "Nurse's Legal Handbook" in 1985, "Manual of Medical-Surgical Nursing" in 1996, and "Pharmacotherapeutics: A Nursing Process Approach" in 1986, 1990, 1994, and 1998. An editor and contributor to the Nurse's Reference Library's "Drugs" series, Diagnostic and Procedures volumes, she was also a clinical reviewer for "Manual of Medical-Surgical Nursing" in 1995 and "Critical Care Intravenous Infusion Drug Handbook" in 1995. Ms. Moraca-Sawicki served as a clinical consultant for both "Critical Care Plans" in 1987 and "Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary" in 1989.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her career. A recipient of multiple grants for community development, beautification, and health and safety from the La Salle Business Association, she received the 2017 Woman of Distinction Award from The Niagara Gazette newspaper and was presented the Woman of Distinction Award from the New York State Assembly in 2016, the Citizen Award from the Barnabite Fathers of the North American Province in 2009, the President's Award from the Health Association of Niagara County in 2004, the Good Neighbor Award from the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in 2003, and the Community Service Award from the La Salle Business Association in 2003. Recognized with the Certificate of Appreciation from the Niagara USA Chamber in 1988, 1991 and 1992, she was honored as Woman of the Year by ABWA Management, LLC, in 2008, Small Business Person of the Year in 2006, Miss Hope in 1977, a fellow of the University at Buffalo from 1976 to 1977, and a nursing fellow of the American Cancer Society in 1977. Earning a Community Service Award from the American Cancer Society in 1978, Ms. Moraca-Sawicki was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
