With an astounding 60 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Steckler currently works as as a publishing executive, writer and editor. At the start of his career, he served with a number of magazines, including Radio-Electronics Magazine, Popular Mechanics Magazine, Electronic Products Magazine and Electro-Technology Magaine in various editorial roles. From there, he returned to Gernsback Publications and Radio-Electronics Magazine as Editor.
In the 1980s, Mr. Steckler worked his way up the professional ladder, obtaining publishing roles for Radio-Electronics Annual and Special Projects Magazine. Over the years, he has lent his expertise to a plethora of publications and institutions, such as Computer Digest, Science Probe Inc., and Poptronix Inc., in the roles of editor-in-chief, president, and publisher.
An electronics technician at heart to remain active and engaged in his field, he affiliated himself with the International Society of Certified Electronic Technicians, The National Electronics Service Dealers Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the American Society of Business Press Editors, as well as many others. Throughout his career, he has contributed his knowledge to such creative works as "Hugo Gernsback, A Man Well Ahead of His Time," "French Humor" and "Flight."
Notably, Mr. Steckler has been awarded many times for his professional endeavors. In addition to being named Man of the Year through the National Electronics Sales and Service Dealers Association on two separate occasions, he has also been inducted into the Electronics Industry Hall of Fame, served as Chairman and President of the International Society of Certified Electronics for three 2-year terms. He has also been listed in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World. Looking toward the future, Mr. Steckler intends to experience the continued success of his career.
He continues to re-publish a number of older magazines and is currently working on two major books -- one on the life of Nikola Tesla (which includes the only known autobiography) and another intended to be a history of electronics told through the innovators that made it happen.
