A retired clinical nurse specialist, Ms. Maxwell spent 22 years with the Greene County Mental Health Clinic, a mental health care center, between 1993 and 2015. Working in the health care field for a total of 40 years, she attributes her success to those that were on her caseload. These individuals not only benefited from being listened to, but also benefited from home visits. Ms. Maxwell continues to stay in touch with and do home visits with several of her past patients. Formerly working in a hospital setting, she especially enjoyed spending time with student nurses, mentoring and training them.
Ms. Maxwell has held a Master of Science in nursing from Boston College since 1975. She remains active as a member of the American Nurses Association, a professional organization that works to advance and protect the profession of nursing. Established as the Nurses Associated Alumnae in 1896, it was later renamed the American Nurses Association in 1911.
Recognized for her tireless efforts numerous times, Ms. Maxwell was also honored with a Plaque of Appreciation for her dedication in the field of nursing. Residing in Slingerland, NY, a suburb of Albany, she is not only a mother, but also a grandmother of four amazing children.
