Retired financial analyst for the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA), Mr. Hechtman was a part of the organization for 43 years. First hired as an assistant analyst in 1973, he then became an associate analyst before moving into his most recent role. Dedicating his entire career to the Authority, he boasts an extensive educational background as well, including certification and advanced certification in labor relations from Cornell University. The NYCTA is a public authority in the state of New York that operates public transportation in New York City. A part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, it is the busiest and largest transit system in North America.
Mr. Hechtman was born in New York City, studied at Brooklyn Technical University where he completed an undergraduate degree in 1968, followed by an MS in physics and MBA in management with distinction at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, in 1970 and 1972, respectfully. Between 1970 and 1972, he also worked as a graduate teaching assistant of physics in the computer center at the university.
A union delegate and committee member, Mr. Hechtman served in the military as a captain in the New York State Guard. He is an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was named to the Gold Circle in 2010, is a member of the Civil Service Tech. Guild, serving as a delegate since 1994, and has been a longtime member of the board of directors since 1978, and lifetime director since 1996, of the Polytechnic University Alumni Association.
Named Patron of Arts by the Society of Theater Arts Resources for 1989-1990 and the recipient of a Certificate of Merit by the Republican National Committee in 1990, Mr. Hechtman has been highlighted in dozens of editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, over the past two decades.
