A visiting clinical professor and research coach for the executive Ph.D. program at Jackson State University since 2005, Dr. Warner has been a former academic administrator and retired professor of education for more than three decades. Her extensive background includes serving as the acting president of Grambling State University from 2001 to 2004 as the first female to head the university, and serving as provost and vice president for academic affairs, vice president for development and university relations, and interim vice president for student affairs. Dr. Warner also held various appointments at Southern University in New Orleans, including as dean of the junior division, beginning in 1968.

Earning her undergraduate degree at Grambling State University in 1967, Master of Arts in English education at Atlanta University in 1968, and Doctor of Philosophy in curriculum and instruction at Louisiana State University in 1992, Dr. Warner has used her education and expertise by becoming heavily involved in many facets of her field. She has been affiliated with the Task Force Six of the Louisiana Board of Regents and has served on the board of directors with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. She was a Nissan/ETS fellow and has served terms on the Congressional HBCU President's Task Force, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. She has also served on numerous advisory boards, such as the pupil progression planning committee for the Orleans Parish District and the state council for vocational education for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Dr. Warner is a longstanding member of Louisiana Women in Higher Education, the Louisiana Association of Student Assistance Programs, the American Educational Research Association, the National Association of University Women and the Golden Key International Honor Society, among numerous other professional societies relative to her industry. She has been named an Outstanding Alumni by the National Association for Educational Opportunity, was inducted into the Grambling State University Hall of Fame, and a Million $ Student Scholarship was created and named in her honor. She has written extensively over the past 25 years, including authoring and co-authoring articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as authoring and co-authoring several books. Her proudest moment, however, included the release of her most recent book, which was published through Xlibris LLC in 2016, titled "Honoring the Call: Odyssey of an Acting University President."

Cited in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women, Dr. Warner has also been honored many more times with awards and recognitions from various other organizations. Most recently, she received a Superior Service Award from the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 2017, a Beacon Award for Education from the Grambling State University Foundation in 2016, and an Outstanding Teacher Award from the College of Education and Human Development at Jackson State University in 2014-2015.

She is the mother of one son and has one lovely granddaughter.
