The granddaughter of the foundation's founder, Eileen J. Garrett, and daughter of the organization's past president, the late Eileen Coly, Ms. Coly also spent 37 years as the associate editor of the organization's "Parapsychology Review" and "International Conference Proceedings" and formerly served three years as secretary when she first joined the non-profit organization in 1969.
Offering nearly 50 years of experience to date, Ms. Coly follows in the non-profit's mission to support scientific and academic research into psychic phenomena and to provide professional resources and information to the academic and lay communities since its inception in 1951. Committed by providing grants and publishing pamphlets, monographs and conference proceedings, as well as serving as the editor-in-chief of the "International Journal of Parapsychology," which was brought back into publication at the celebration of their 50th anniversary, Ms. Coly was also responsible for bringing back the quality paperback imprint, Helix Press. Hosting the Perspectives Lecture Series and conducting the outreach program, Ms. Coly maintains the Eileen J. Garrett Library, which boasts a collection of more than 12,000 volumes and 100 periodicals with an audiovisual collection on parapsychology and related topics.
Proud of the body of work in which she has been involved, Ms. Coly has edited several books and is currently working to compile her grandmother's unpublished writings for publication as well. She also aspires to soon launch her own website. Ms. Coly's grandmother, a practicing medium and psychic, sought to enlist scientists to study psychic functioning. Eventually earning the opportunity to team up with The Honorable Frances P. Bolton, a former U.S. Republican congresswoman from Ohio, they founded the organization and an annual international conference series so that disciplinarians from around the world could propose their ideas and apply them. The Parapsychology Foundation, Inc., continues to gain worldwide support for such research.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Hunter College in 1973, Ms. Coly has one son and one daughter. She has been cited in multiple editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
