Returning to Colombia annually, she was able to remain connected to her culture and her family. These experiences were the inspiration for Dr. Pérez Bustillo's novel, "Back to El Dorado," currently awaiting publication. In addition, her passion for learning and fascination with human rights issues, especially those dealing with female empowerment, have been a driving force for Dr. Pérez Bustillo, and she considers her ability to promote
the female image in education and literature to be particularly fulfilling.
