With more than 15 years of industry experience, Dr. Sim has worked as a teacher and researcher with the College of Creative Human Resource at Kyungsung University since 2016. Prior to these appointments, she served as a part-time instructor at Kwangwoon University from 2011 to 2016, Kyungnam University from 2011 to 2014, Kyungsang National University from 2012 to 2014, and Chungnam National University from 2014 to 2016. Dr. Sim began her career as a research assistant at the State University of New York at Albany from 2004 to 2005, and as a graduate assistant for West Texas A&M University from 2000 to 2003.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Sim pursued an education at Dong-A University, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1991, and a Master of Science in physical chemistry in 1999. In 2003, she continued her academic efforts at West Texas A&M University, receiving a Master of Arts in clinical psychology. Dr. Sim concluded her studies at the State University of New York, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology in 2011.
Beyond her efforts within the field, Dr. Sim has contributed to numerous endeavors in her professional circles. She has found much success with her written work, having contributed articles to such publications as Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, the Korean Journal of Psychology, the Korean Journal of Social and Personality Psychology, Psychologia, the Korean Journal of Developmental Psychology, and the Korean Journal of Cognitive and Biological Psychology. Furthermore, Dr. Sim presented a lecture at the Annual Conference of the Northeastern Evolutionary Psychology Society in 2007 and 2011, as well as the Annual Conference of Human Behavior and Evolution Society in 2007.
In addition to her primary trade, Dr. Sim remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. Since 2017, she has been involved with the National Disaster Management Research Institute. Dr. Sim has maintained membership with the Korean Psychological Association, the Korean Social and Personality Psychology Association, the Korean Society for Cognitive and Biological Psychology, and the Korean Addiction Psychological Association.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Sim has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her career. She was honored as a Presidential Scholar in Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in 1987 and 2000. Additionally, she earned a College Dean Scholarship in Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in 1988. Most recently, Dr. Sim received a Sarah Raffkind Scholarship in Recognition of Outstanding Achievement in 2002.
