Becoming a full professor in 1994, he has taught thousands of students over the years and has made a profound impact on the success of the department. During his tenure, he served as the director of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for 14 years and was dean for five years. He also chaired the department of chemistry for five years prior.
Dr. Wang earned a Bachelor of Science at Xinjiang University in 1982, the same year he began lecturing. He then completed a Master of Science in environmental chemistry at Nanjing University in 1987, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in physics and chemistry, with high honors, at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France, in 1992. Utilizing his expertise to serve as the director of the Key Lab of Oil and Gas Fine Chemical Engineering, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, he has also written extensively in his area of expertise. Contributing more than 280 articles in peer-reviewed journals, he most recently co-authored "An Efficient Approach for Enhancing the Catalytic Activity of Ni-MOF-74 via a Relay Catalyst System for the Selective Oxidation of Benzylic C-H Bonds under Mild Conditions."
A member of the Division of Applied Chemistry, the Chinese Chemical Society, the Division of Analytical Chemistry and the Chinese Chemical Society, Dr. Wang has been the recipient of several awards for his work in the field, including a Second Prize in Science and Technology Progress by the Government of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China, in 2014 and 2016, an Award by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China in 2010, and a Famous Teacher Award by the department of education at Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 2009. Cited in several editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World, Dr. Wang has been married to his wife Lin Zhang since 2006 and is the proud parent of one child.
